Drydocks World is expanding to Serbia!

We are establishing a new Engineering Project Support Centre in Belgrade , creating exciting opportunities for talented Serbian engineers to contribute to major global EPC, FPSO, Offshore Oil & Gas, and HVDC projects.

If you are interested in working on world-class projects while helping build a new engineering hub from the ground up, we would love to hear from you.

Job Purpose

Responsible for leading, supervising, and coordinating HVAC design, 3D modeling, and drafting activities for major offshore EPC projects, including HVDC platforms, offshore wind facilities, FPSO/FSO facilities, and other offshore oil and gas projects. Ensure the development of accurate, efficient, and constructible HVAC equipment layouts, ducting arrangements, ventilation systems, and associated design deliverables in accordance with approved engineering specifications, applicable international standards, and project requirements. Coordinate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to ensure proper integration of HVAC systems within offshore facilities while meeting project quality, safety, operational, and schedule requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate HVAC design, 3D modeling, and drafting activities for major offshore EPC projects, ensuring compliance with approved engineering specifications, project requirements, and applicable international standards.
  • Lead the development and review of HVAC 3D models, including air handling units, ventilation fans, cooling equipment, ductwork, dampers, louvers, and associated HVAC system arrangements.
  • Develop and review HVAC general arrangement drawings, duct routing layouts, equipment installation details, ventilation arrangements, and associated design documentation based on approved engineering inputs.
  • Coordinate with HVAC, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical, Piping, Instrumentation, and other engineering disciplines to ensure proper integration of HVAC systems within the overall facility design.
  • Review HVAC engineering specifications, system schematics, equipment datasheets, ventilation requirements, and approved design calculations to ensure accurate incorporation of technical requirements into HVAC layouts and models.
  • Conduct and participate in multidisciplinary 3D model reviews, engineering design reviews, and clash detection exercises to identify and resolve HVAC layout conflicts and engineering interface issues.
  • Ensure HVAC equipment layouts and ducting arrangements consider installation accessibility, maintenance clearances, equipment replacement requirements, airflow distribution, fire and smoke safety provisions, and offshore environmental constraints.
  • Coordinate with HVAC Engineers to incorporate approved duct sizes, airflow requirements, equipment capacities, ventilation zoning, fire damper locations, and other engineering requirements into HVAC design documentation.
  • Review and verify HVAC design deliverables, including equipment general arrangement drawings, ducting layouts, ventilation drawings, installation details, material take-offs, and model-generated documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Provide technical guidance to designers in resolving complex HVAC routing challenges, congested equipment arrangements, restricted installation spaces, and multidisciplinary design conflicts.
  • Coordinate with fabrication, construction, and installation teams to ensure HVAC designs are practical, constructible, and compatible with offshore modular fabrication and installation requirements.
  • Support procurement and material management teams through the timely preparation and verification of HVAC material take-offs, bills of materials, equipment schedules, and relevant design documentation.

Education

  • Diploma or Higher Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a relevant discipline would be an advantage.
  • Professional training or certification in AVEVA E3D/PDMS, AutoCAD, Smart 3D, or equivalent HVAC design and modeling software would be preferred.

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in HVAC design and drafting, preferably within offshore oil and gas, HVDC platforms, offshore wind, or major EPC projects.
  • At least 3–5 years of experience leading or supervising HVAC designers, draftsmen, and 3D modeling teams.

Key Competencies

  • Extensive knowledge of HVAC design, ducting layouts, ventilation arrangements, equipment installation requirements, and offshore HVAC design practices.
  • Advanced proficiency in HVAC design and 3D modeling software such as AVEVA E3D/PDMS, AutoCAD, Navisworks, Smart 3D, or equivalent engineering applications.
  • Strong understanding of HVAC general arrangement drawings, ducting layouts, ventilation schematics, equipment schedules, installation details, and material take-offs.
  • Knowledge of HVAC equipment, including air handling units, chillers, ventilation fans, air-conditioning units, ducting systems, dampers, louvers, and associated components.
  • Understanding of air distribution principles, ventilation zoning, duct sizing requirements, equipment accessibility, and maintenance clearances.
  • Working knowledge of applicable ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, ISO, DNV, and other relevant HVAC engineering standards and client specifications.
  • Knowledge of HVAC requirements for offshore electrical rooms, control rooms, accommodation areas, equipment rooms, and hazardous or safety-critical spaces.
  • Understanding of fire and smoke damper arrangements, pressurization systems, smoke control requirements, and HVAC safety interfaces.
  • Ability to conduct 3D model reviews, clash detection, and multidisciplinary engineering coordination.
  • Knowledge of HVAC fabrication, ductwork installation, modular construction, testing, and commissioning requirements.
