Project-based | Remote | Potential long-term partnership

About the role

We are looking for a hands-on Narrative Designer with an unusually strong research mindset .

This role sits at the intersection of narrative research, human psychology and hands-on storytelling. We are looking for someone who is not only able to write compelling stories, but is deeply interested in understanding why certain characters, relationships, conflicts, dilemmas and narrative structures resonate with people .

The right person naturally researches, compares, decomposes and forms hypotheses. You should be comfortable moving from abstract patterns and human motivations all the way down to specific character arcs, scenes, choices and dialogue.

What you will own

  • Research and deconstruct successful stories, characters, relationships and narrative structures
  • Identify recurring psychological, emotional and cultural patterns behind what resonates with audiences
  • Separate surface-level patterns from deeper underlying mechanisms
  • Turn research and observations into clear narrative hypotheses
  • Build characters around strong motivations, desires, fears, contradictions and internal conflicts
  • Design emotionally meaningful dilemmas where different choices carry real consequences
  • Develop character arcs, relationship dynamics, conflicts and story structures
  • Write and shape dialogue, scenes and narrative beats
  • Work hands-on from initial research through final narrative execution
  • Analyze audience behavior and data to understand what worked, what did not and why
  • Use those findings to inform the next research and creative iteration

What we are looking for

You are a researcher by nature as much as a storyteller .

You enjoy going deeper than the obvious explanation. You look for common structures across seemingly unrelated stories, challenge your own assumptions and are comfortable changing your thinking when evidence points somewhere else.

A strong background or serious interest in one or several of these areas is highly relevant:

  • Narrative design or screenwriting
  • Psychology and human behavior
  • Philosophy
  • Anthropology
  • Literature
  • Behavioral science
  • Interactive storytelling

Formal education in these areas is not required. Intellectual depth, curiosity, analytical ability and narrative judgment matter more than credentials.

Strong dialogue writing and an understanding of character psychology are particularly important.

Ownership and feedback

This is not a role where you simply receive writing briefs.

You will have end-to-end ownership of the narrative function , significant creative autonomy and the ability to influence the methodology behind the work.

An important part of the role is the feedback loop. You will be able to see how your narrative decisions perform with real audiences, work with behavioral data and use those signals to improve subsequent iterations.

Research → Hypothesis → Narrative → Audience behavior → Learning → Iteration

We want someone who finds that process genuinely interesting.

Collaboration format

The initial engagement is project-based and is intended to evaluate mutual fit, depth of thinking, working chemistry and the ability to own the function end to end.

If the collaboration is successful, the intention is to develop it into a long-term partnership , with broader responsibility, compensation structure, ownership scope and potential upside discussed accordingly.

We are looking for someone who wants to research, discover and build , not simply execute writing tasks.
