Corporate Controller

Position Overview

We’re looking for a hands-on accounting leader to take ownership of the accounting function as it transitions from an outsourced model to an internal operation. This is a builder-focused role for someone who can manage the full accounting cycle, establish scalable processes, and serve as a strong financial partner to leadership.

You’ll oversee a timely close across multiple entities, strengthen controls and reporting, improve accounting systems, and help build the foundation for a future accounting team. The role requires someone equally comfortable troubleshooting a reconciliation and thinking through broader GAAP, reporting, and systems questions.

Key Responsibilities

• Own month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close across general ledger, AP, AR, and payroll.
• Manage multi-entity accounting, including intercompany transactions, allocations, and entity-level reporting.
• Prepare accurate, GAAP-compliant financial statements and reporting packages.
• Research and document technical accounting matters, including revenue recognition and other complex accounting topics.
• Lead the transition from an outsourced accounting provider to an internal accounting function.
• Develop and document accounting policies, internal controls, and repeatable procedures.
• Oversee cash visibility, accounts payable, and accounts receivable processes.
• Partner with Finance and executive leadership on reporting, analysis, and accounting-related decisions.
• Lead improvements to the accounting technology stack, including migration from QuickBooks Online to a more robust multi-entity platform.
• Redesign or improve the chart of accounts to support consolidated and entity-level reporting.
• Identify opportunities to use automation and AI tools to improve accounting efficiency and reliability.
• Help build the accounting organization over time, including hiring, training, and managing additional team members.

Qualifications

• 8–12 years of progressive accounting or finance experience, including 3+ years at a Controller, Assistant Controller, or Accounting Manager level.
• Direct experience working within a U.S.-based company or accounting organization.
• CPA or equivalent recognized accounting certification.
• Strong command of U.S. GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls, and multi-entity accounting.
• Demonstrated experience establishing or significantly improving an accounting function.
• Strong understanding of intercompany accounting and consolidated reporting.
• Comfortable operating as a hands-on individual contributor while also developing processes and eventually managing a team.
• Advanced QuickBooks Online experience, including experience with platform upgrades or transitions.
• Experience with NetSuite or another enterprise-level ERP is strongly preferred.
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders.
• Highly proactive and comfortable identifying problems and recommending solutions without extensive direction.

• Big 4 or comparable public accounting/audit experience.
• Healthcare, healthcare technology, or other regulated-industry experience.
• Experience with multi-entity operating structures.
• Experience implementing AI or automation within accounting workflows.
• Experience scaling an accounting function during a period of rapid growth.
• Experience transitioning finance and accounting responsibilities from an external provider to an internal team.

Role Structure

This is initially a highly hands-on role. The successful candidate will personally own significant portions of the accounting function while building the systems, controls, documentation, and processes needed to scale.

As the function grows, the role is expected to evolve toward greater team leadership and organizational ownership. This is best suited to someone who enjoys building the infrastructure rather than inheriting a finished accounting operation.
